The analog sound produced by the oscillators differently controlled by the internal circuitry have marked and continue to mark an era that it seems we do not want or cannot forget
Thanks to the use above all by English and German bands, Synths with names that recalled space travel (Juno, Jupiter, Saturn, etc…) formed what we now very generically call Synth Pop
In reality these instruments were able to create a new sound for the time which had as its aim not only to imitate real instruments (to understand what we can define as real and not) but above all to define new standards and new soundscapes that recalled precisely the avant-garde and the breaking of classical patterns
Although at the beginning of the 90s for a fairly long period the world seemed to have forgotten the importance of an analog circuit (to replace it with a digital emulation); today these objects can cost almost as much as a used car, this is because the technological limits in the original circuitry formed a unique and recognizable sound full of small defects and imperfections that actually please the human ear much more than a cold and aseptic digital reproduction.
Not all the instruments of this period were purely analogue like those of the previous decade but the well-balanced and equipped combination of analogue and digital probably led, without the creators’ knowledge, to the generation of a sound spectrum which perhaps out of melancholy is used massively today..
This page deserves a particular mention and thanks to this artist who in some way also inspired the creation of this site. What we propose is to sit down calmly and browse through its official website where you can find one of the largest free collections of samples on the internet relating to the world of synths and drum machines (a lot of them are actually made in Japan in the 80s).
