Native American Flutes:

Native American cultures have a rich tradition of flute-making and playing. However, these flutes are often single-tube flutes, not pan flutes. They are typically made from natural materials like wood or bone and are used for a variety of purposes, including ceremonial rituals, storytelling, and personal expression.  

Pan Flutes in Popular Culture:

The association of pan flutes with Native American culture often stems from popular culture and new age music. Many recordings labeled as “Native American flute music” feature pan flutes, which can be misleading. While pan flutes are beautiful instruments, it’s important to recognize that they are not a traditional instrument for all Native American tribes.
